DISINFO: Zelensky only wants military support and not peace
SUMMARY
The "Victory Plan" that Zelensky took to showcase in the U.S. has nothing to do with peace – the very name makes it clear that it is about some kind of "victory" for Ukraine. The underlying meaning of the plan is to bind the West with strict commitments of military support for Kyiv. Judging by the initial reactions, there is currently no enthusiasm in the White House.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation about Russia's war against Ukraine, attempting to portray Ukraine as being responsible for the conflict. Russia is the only country responsible for the invasion of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the so-called Victory Plan to the Ukrainian Parliament on 16 October 2024. The plan lays out Ukraine's preconditions for a ceasefire deal, including Ukraine's Nato membership. Furthermore, the plan presents views on how to contain Russia’s aggression rather than war plans against Russia, as alleged.
The assertion that the US harbours a desire for the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine lacks any substantial foundation and is devoid of factual support. The continuation of the conflict in Ukraine serves neither the strategic nor the economic interests of the US. Stability in Ukraine and the wider region is conducive to global security and economic prosperity. See the joint US-EU statement.
