DISINFO: Without all-Russian civilization Ukraine lost its sovereignty, now Belarus is under risk
SUMMARY
Ukrainian establishment’s denial that Ukraine is an integral part of all-Russian civilization resulted in the loss of Ukraine’s sovereignty. The so-called EU integration is promoted in Ukraine by people who personally benefit from it, even though such integration is based on fascism and impoverishment of the population.
Likewise, for Belarus, the Union State with Russia would mean the restoration of independence and sovereignty. In civilizational terms, Belarus is a western boundary of all-Russian civilization. Without Russia and Russian people, Belarus and Belarusians would have disappeared long ago, and Polish eastern boundaries would replace Belarus. The Eastern Partnership, various cooperation modes with NATO, etc. are not acceptable for Belarus because quasi- EU integration is based on geopolitical catastrophe and Western imperialism.
RESPONSE
This is an example of recurring pro-Kremlin propagandistic narratives about Belarus and Ukraine as an integral part of the Russian world, fascist and imperial West, Ukraine as a non-sovereign country, and the West's attempts to disrupt Belarus-Russia relations through the development of bilateral cooperation.
The publications puts forward a false dilemma about the direction of Belarus' and Ukraine's political development (union with Russia vs. unavoidable loss of sovereignty degradation) and promotes the concept of all-Russian civilisation, an imperial Russian and Russian irredentist ideology that is a favoured pro-Kremlin narrative aimed at weakening the national identity of Belarusians and Ukrainians, as well as their sovereignty. Belarus and Ukraine are well-defined nation-states with a long history, which preserved their languages, literature and identity, despite foreign rule for long periods.
