DISINFO: West ramps up arms supplies to Ukraine to destroy Russia
SUMMARY
The West is increasing arms supplies and providing intelligence to Kiev’s neo-Nazi regime. It is pushing ahead with a hybrid war against Russia in an effort to destroy the country. The West is using Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s criminal Russophobic regime as one of the levers to contain Russia.

This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets accusing the West of anti-Russian policies and Russophobia, and also of having belligerent intentions towards Russia.
In reality, the West is not attempting to destroy Russia as a state. Some Western nations, including NATO member states, provide Ukraine with military assistance and intelligence information. The sole aim is to help Kyiv repel Moscow’s unprovoked aggression and restore Ukraine’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders including the illegally annexed Crimean peninsula and the separatist-controlled regions in the East. There is no Russophobic in these policies. Neither the West nor Ukraine have any claims for internationally recognised Russian territory.
Even during Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the West was until recently, calling for a diplomatic solution. German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz and French President Emmanuel Macron were especially active in communicating with Russian President Vladimir Putin. There is still an opportunity to conduct dialogue, but with new Russian leadership. Due to the many war crimes committed by Russian troops in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said any negotiations would be possible only with a new Russian president. It was Moscow which had ruled out any opportunity for a peaceful solution.
The West was trying to establish good-neighbourly relations with Moscow since the collapse of the Soviet Union and until the moment when Russia launched its unprovoked war of aggression against Ukraine on 24 February 2022. According to the 1997 Founding Act on Mutual Relations, Cooperation and Security between NATO and the Russian Federation, Russia was viewed as a partner of the alliance. Western nations were calling for solving all problems with Russia in a peaceful and diplomatic manner. Western nations were trying to conduct a constructive dialogue with Russia on all disputed issues, including security guarantees. Russia cut short all attempts at achieving a compromise over security guarantees by attacking Ukraine. As Russia kept conducting its aggressive policy and violating international law, the West had to resort to restrictive measures.
