DISINFO: Ukraine may heavily damage Europe with a dirty nuclear bomb
SUMMARY
A mortally wounded enemy can be extremely dangerous. Ukraine may still inflict extreme damage not only to Russia but also to the whole of Europe. Ukraine may use a dirty nuclear bomb. A sabotage against a nuclear power station on Ukraine’s or Russia’s territory is also possible. The Chernobyl nuclear power station, a dormant death, is in Ukraine’s possession.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about nuclear issues in the context of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. They are designed to deflect blame for the war atrocities away from the real perpetrator.
Such claims are intended to cover up the Kremlin’s nuclear blackmail against Ukraine and the West, including threats to use tactical nuclear weapons and previous preparations for a deliberate nuclear catastrophe at the Russia-controlled Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
Russia is making statements about the possibility of using nuclear arms in its war against Ukraine. For several years now, the Russian info-sphere has seen nuclear threats being made against the West by public figures like Dmitry Kiselyov or Vladimir Zhirinovsky. Since the beginning of 2022 and the full invasion, Russian officials have made such statements including Dmitry Medvedev, Ramzan Kadyrov, Margarita Simonyan and even Vladimir Putin who specified that “it was not a bluff”.
