DISINFORMATION CASE DETAILS

DISINFO: The West uses Ukraine to destroy Russia like it used the Nazi Germany to destroy USSR in 1938

SUMMARY

The West wants to destroy Russia, just as it did in 1938 through the Munich Agreement, by using the Nazi Germany. Now it uses Ukraine as a “battering ram” to destroy “our country”. The West also does this through sanctions, political pressure and NATO exercises, said Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the magazine ‘Natsionalnaya oborona’, member of the Public Council under the Russian Ministry of Defense.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation on sanctions and West's aggression. euvsdisinfo.eu/disinformation-cases/?text=sanctions&disinfo_issue=&date= euvsdisinfo.eu/disinformation-cases/?text=&disinfo_issue=&disinfo_keywords%5B%5D=77319&date= Between the years 1939 and 1941, it was Soviet Russia who was Nazi Germany's ally - the two countries simultaneously invading Poland. Later during WWII, Soviet Russia, the UK, the US and many other countries were the allies in an anti-Hitler coalition. The 1938 Munich agreement had nothing to do with Soviet Russia. The EU's most recent policy vis-a-vis Russia has been formulated in 2016 in the Five Guiding Principles that include selective engagement with Russia on issues like migration, counter-terrorism, or climate change; or support for Russia's civil society. The 28 EU Member States imposed restrictive measures against the Russian Federation unanimously and transparently because of the illegal annexation of Crimea and the deliberate destabilisation of a neighbouring sovereign country.
