DISINFO: The West undermines Russia because Russia opposes globalist ideology and upholds traditional values

SUMMARY

Putin’s Russia opposes globalist ideology and its negation of traditional values, the family, spirituality, ethical values, and Orthodox Christianity. The West, especially the EU, seeks to substitute these values with moral relativism, the legalisation of gay marriage, the total liberalisation of abortion, free euthanasia, and the fetish of the open and multicultural society.

Putin’s opposition to globalist ideology, with its relativism and individualism, and his vision based on Russia’s spiritual and cultural tradition, are unforgivable for the Anglo-American power élite. This is why the West is conducting a campaign of aggression against Russia’s integrity and is using all means - such as threats and sanctions - to prevent it from re-emerging as a superpower.

RESPONSE

This article contains the recurrent pro-Kremlin narrative claiming that the US and other Western states allegedly pursue a belligerent and hostile agenda against Russia, as well as the narrative claiming that Western sanctions imposed on Russia are the result of Russophobia and anti-Russia attitudes.

The article’s message is also consistent with the narrative claiming that the West and so-called “global elites” are hostile to Russia and that this hostility is due to Putin’s opposition to the decadent values of the West and his efforts to uphold the morally superior values of Russia.

There is no evidence to support the article’s claim that the West is conducting a “campaign of aggression” against Russia’s integrity. Moreover, Western sanctions against Russia have nothing to do with “Putin’s opposition to globalist ideology” and his alleged efforts to preserve “Russia’s cultural and spiritual tradition”. Nor it is true that these sanctions aim to “prevent Russia’s re-emergence as a superpower”.

Western states have imposed sanctions on Russia not for ideological reasons, as the article claims, but as a response to specific unacceptable foreign policy actions by the Kremlin which undermine international stability and security, such as the illegitimate annexation of Crimea and the destabilisation of Eastern Ukraine, the shooting down of flight MH17, the poisoning with chemical weapons of Sergey Skrypal and his daughter in the UK, as well as Russia's interference in US elections, the SolarWinds attack and other malicious cyber activities and transnational corruption.

Russia has also been sanctioned for the attempted murder with chemical weapons of political opponent Alexei Navalny and the violation of his rights by his arbitrary arrest, trial and sentencing,

Read similar cases claiming that the West hates Russia because of Russia’s strong state and traditional value system, that as part of a consecutive cycle of Russophobia, the West again threatens Russia with fruitless sanctions and that Western sanctions are illegal and hostile actions.
