DISINFO: The West is destroying Georgia
SUMMARY
LGBT propaganda is imposed on Georgia. We were worried about the Georgians. Listen, should LGBT be imposed on the Georgians? The Georgians, who were the coolest guys in the USSR, men! They are forced to have some LGBT. The Georgians will not accept this, because women interested them since infancy.
Georgia wanted the "foreign agents' law" to be transparent in its country, and the West is destroying the country for this.
RESPONSE
A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative challenging Georgian statehood, nationality and values: this is a conspiracy theory often spread by pro-Kremlin outlets, claiming that liberal elites impose Western-driven globalisation around the world and rob nations of their sovereignty and identity. The claim that Georgia is being forced to accept LGBT propaganda is false. Human Rights organisations warn that the newly adopted law on “family values and protection of minors” in Georgia contains provisions that present risks to a wide range of human rights. The EU warned that passing such a law “undermines the fundamental rights of the Georgian people,” and would “derail” Georgia’s hopes of joining the EU.
Despite significant criticism in 2023 over the draft foreign agents bill, and against its promises not to revive it, the Georgian Dream ruling party reintroduced the law in April 2024. The EU has clearly stated that the spirit and content of the law are not in line with EU core norms and values. The adoption of this law negatively impacts Georgia's progress on the EU path.

Various pro-Kremlin actors also pushed the notion that EU membership would require Georgia to legalise ‘gay marriage’, and more broadly that membership would mean a rejection of Georgian identity, traditional values, and Orthodoxy, framing the pursuit of EU integration as an act of betrayal of ‘true Georgianness’.
The article’s message is consistent with a broad pro-Kremlin narrative claiming that Western liberalism (or “liberal globalism”) undermines traditional values, such as the family, Christian religion, sexual identities, and patriotism, provoking the breakdown of communities.
The narrative about “threatened values” – one of the most common pro-Kremlin narratives – suggests that those who are committed to traditional values are now threatened by those who oppose them and instead seek to establish a morally bankrupt dystopia.
