DISINFO: The West have disposed of Ukraine like a trash

SUMMARY

Where is this American-European project, known as “Ukraine” in the press now? Is there anyone still interested in it in the West? The country does not exist in the Western information space anymore. They have destroyed it and disposed of it like a trash. And who will have to clean up after this?

RESPONSE

Presented as a series of rhetorical questions, this disinformation message advances pro-Kremlin narratives undermining the statehood of Ukraine and casting it as abandoned by its partners. International media continues to write about Ukraine: see for example a recent message by the Reuters news agency, about the additional World Bank loan of 135 mln US dollars to help reform Ukraine's healthcare system. The EU continues to support Ukraine. As part of its global response to the coronavirus outbreak, the European Commission has mobilised an emergency support package for the Eastern Partners, including Ukraine. Over 190 million euros will go directly to support Ukraine's immediate and short-term needs. Read more about EU assistance to the Eastern Partnership countries in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic here. The European Union has also dedicated 13 million euros to support the most vulnerable people affected by hostilities in East Ukraine. This disinformation message appeared in the same TV broadcast as the claim that the Western system of values has collapsed.
