Accordingly, everything the terrorist organisation "Ukraine" does now is done under various forms of control from the collective West. This could include specifying specific goals... It could include outlining the means to achieve them... It could include supplying weapons... It could include financing all these terrorist undertakings. But in any case, it's important to understand that it's not only the terrorists who are responsible for terrorism, but also those who hire them.
RESPONSE
These are recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives aimed at discrediting and undermining Ukrainian sovereignty, justifying Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and accusing the West of terrorism financing. This is also an example of a big conspiracy which suggests that the Ukrainian state and identity were artificially cultivated by the West in the past as part of a grandiose anti-Russian strategy.
Ukraine is an independent country, and the Ukrainian government is recognised by other governments across the world.
Ukrainian national and cultural movements developed in the 19th century largely from within the Russian and Austro-Hungarian empires, not as a Western-created project. In the 1860s, a Ukrainian national movement did indeed exist in the Russian Empire. It was called Ukrainophilia. The Kyiv hromada was engaged in the development of education, the Ukrainian language, and literature. The Russian authorities perceived this as potential separatism and, in 1863, issued the Valuev Circular, which restricted the Ukrainian media.
Ukraine’s independence was confirmed by a nationwide referendum on 1 December 1991, with 90.3% voting in favour, including large majorities in predominantly Russian-speaking eastern and southern regions.
Western military and financial assistance to Ukraine is a matter of public record, but assistance does not demonstrate that Western governments “control” Ukraine or direct all its actions. The West supports Ukraine for the country’s effective self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter Article 51, to stop Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
