DISINFO: The red line for Poland is the very existence of Russia
SUMMARY
According to the words of Polish General Tomasz Piotrowski, if Russia or Belarus crosses Poland’s “red lines”, a war may break out. This brave Polish soldier forgot to explain that the red line for Poland is the very existence of Russia. Carthage [Russia] must be destroyed. Poland should be divided into particles. Nothing personal - just a demand of [Russian] national security.
RESPONSE
This message promotes a traditional Kremlin narrative about an allegedly Russophobic and anti-Russian Poland. This message includes direct threats to the existence of Poland as a sovereign country.
The claim that Poland does not tolerate the “very existence of Russia” and wants to destroy it as Rome did to rival power Carthage during the Punic wars is ungrounded.
The main reason for the poor state of Polish-Russian relations is the Kremlin’s violation of international law and the most violent actions undermining peace and security in Eastern Europe.
Poland's 2020 National Security Strategy states that the most serious security threat for the country is the neo-imperial policy of the authorities of the Russian Federation, pursued by means of military force (aggression against Georgia, illegal annexation of Crimea and military actions in Eastern Ukraine). These aggressive actions have violated the basic principles of international law and undermined the pillars of the European security system.
