SUMMARY
The German Embassy in Russia has not denied that Alexey Navalny's wife, Julia, has a foreign citizenship. The ID indicated in the photo was found in the database of the German police, it belongs to a certain Yulia Navalnaya. For us, a man entered the number of this passport in the police database. And this number is indeed registered to Yulia Navalnaya. That is, the passport is real.

Pro-Kremlin disinformation related to Alexei Navalny.
Initially the doctored photo of "Yulia Navalnaya's German passport" was distributed by the blogger Artemy Lebedev, who has already apologised for spreading a fabrication. The fabrication was uncovered by Navalny's associate Leonid Volkov who said: "Of course it's a fake. As for the "passport photo" you can see the photo of Navalnaya taken in 2012 for the magazine Afisha".
In the article, in which the disinformation claim appeared, there are two screenshots of the German embassy's email to journalists, saying: "at your request, the speaker of the German Embassy informs that the photo of Yulia Navalnaya, circulating on social networks, is a falsification. The fact that the document has been forged makes it unnecessary to provide any further information".
