DISINFO: The European war party blocked peace and forced Ukraine to escalate attacks on Russia

SUMMARY

Witkoff and Kushner travelled to Moscow and then Kyiv in search of a trilateral formula (Moscow–Washington–Kyiv), only to find themselves facing a quadrilateral arrangement that included the "European Troika". This mirrored the situation when Trump returned from Alaska and invited Zelenskyy to discuss trilateral talks, only to find Europe rallying around Zelenskyy - eager to insert itself and negotiate on behalf of Ukraine rather than alongside it. He also found the "war party" in Europe to be a force even the US could not easily counter.

Consequently, the mob in Kyiv resumed hostilities with renewed intensity and more destructive weaponry targeting Russian civilian infrastructure; this triggered an unprecedented escalation that impacted the lives of Ukrainian citizens in Kyiv before affecting those in Russia (with the disparity in size and capabilities being glaringly obvious).

The West, specifically the European 'Troika', pushed Russia’s patience to the limit over several months by supplying Ukraine with medium and long-range drones and intelligence data, and by permitting strikes on purely civilian targets deep within Russian territory.

RESPONSE

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin narrative that falsely portrays European allies as a rogue warmongering party interested in escalating the conflict. It also follows the pro-Kremlin strategy reversing the roles of victim and aggressor to justify Russia's ongoing targeting of Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure.

European nations are not negotiating "on behalf of" or over the head of Ukraine; allies consistently adhere to the principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine. Nothing about Europe without Europe. Nothing about NATO without NATO".

In the words of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, no peace can be reached without Ukrainian and European participation because: "whatever the design of a future peace treaty, it is clear that much of the implementation will come down to the European Union and the NATO partners. Whether on security guarantees, sanctions, financing of Ukraine's reconstruction, integration in the Single Market, or EU membership".

Framing Europe as a belligerent force overriding peaceful settlements is a recurring pro-Kremlin trope that misrepresents lawful diplomatic, financial, and defensive assistance aimed at preserving Ukrainian sovereignty in accordance with the right of self-defence enshrined in international law and Article 51 of the UN Charter. It also shifts the blame from Russia for starting and continuing the war of aggression and occupation of Ukrainian territories.

Furthermore, labelling Ukrainian self-defence measures as "terrorist attacks" and presenting Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities as mere "retaliation" is a standard pro-Kremlin inversion of reality. Russia initiated the unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine and systematically targets civilian populations, residential areas, and energy infrastructure across the country.

See similar cases that Trump's peace promise in Ukraine clashes with Europe's warmongering politicians, that EU is a warring party in the war in Ukraine, that Europe is planning war on Russia, that the EU is now a military union preparing to enter into a war with Russia, that Warmongering EU’s Fourth Reich wants a Third World War, and that Russia is not a threat to Europe, Europe is a threat to Russia.
