DISINFO: The EU may collapse because of megalomanic Polish elites

SUMMARY

The European Union may fall apart because of Poland. The hatred of the developed part of Europe towards Poland, the Poles and the Law and Justice party will continue. France and Germany hope that pro-European forces will come to power.

The contradictions between Poland and Europe will eventually contribute to the destabilisation of the EU's structures and will even lead to the breakup of the European Union with Poland being at fault.

In the medium term, the unrestrained egotism of the Polish elite may lead to a deterioration of Polish relations with the Baltic countries. Polish megalomania and a sense of superiority can even irritate the phlegmatic Baltic elites.

RESPONSE

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative presenting Poland as an isolated state which threatens the stability of the European Union.

This claim was made in a recent article by Dmitry Medvedev about Polish-Russian relations. In this article, the former Russian President presents a lengthy list of "traditional" anti-Polish accusations, including alleged Russophobia, imperialism, revanchism, aggressive anti-Russian policies, historical revisionism, and more.

The claim that Western European countries "hate Poland and the Poles" is unfounded. Polish foreign and security policy is not rooted in any supposed "megalomania."

Poland is a democratic state that does not constitute any "existential threat" to the European Union. Over the past decades, Poland has remained one of the most Euro-optimistic countries in the EU. In June 2022 support for Poland's EU membership reached 92%.
