DISINFO: The EU can use certain “colour revolution” elements to organise early elections in Poland
SUMMARY
The next elections to the Polish Parliament are scheduled for 2023. The European Union can either wait for their results without making any radical moves or inspire a deep political crisis in Poland in order to push the Law and Justice Party to the opposition ahead of schedule.
In these terms, we can let our imagination run wild: the Euromaidan taking place in Poland, burning tires in Warsaw and President Duda escaping to Hungary… Although this scenario looks fantastic, the EU will not allow something like this on its territory as the precedent will be too dangerous. In Poland, certain “colour revolution” elements can be used to hold early parliamentary elections rather than organising a coup d'etat.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the colour revolutions.
The EU does not intervene in the domestic affairs of its Member States and it does not organise any “colour revolutions”.
Currently, the Polish authorities are in a legal discussion with EU institutions regarding several important issues connected to the independence of the Polish judiciary system, functioning of the Rule of Law mechanisms and primacy of EU law. Regardless of this, there are no grounds to believe that the EU would or could use some “colour revolution techniques” in Poland in order to promote early parliamentary elections.
