DISINFO: Spanish government and Josep Borrell are on Soros’ payroll

SUMMARY

A new book reveals that over 120 people in Spain including politicians, journalists, judges, lawyers, businessmen and technicians, all belonged or still belong to one of the organisations that the US businessman of Hungarian origin George Soros has ready to change the world order, which is his stated goal. The president of the cabinet, Pedro Sánchez, vice president Pablo Iglesias, minister of Justice Dolores Delgado, former judge Baltasar Garzón, Barcelona’s mayor Ada Colau, EU chief diplomat Josep Borrell or European Parliament Member Juan Fernando López Aguilar are some of the people included in this large payroll.

RESPONSE

Conspiracy theory about the left-leaning government and major progressive figures in Spain, not supported by any evidence. This is a recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about billionaire George Soros, frequently portrayed as an evil puppet master behind politicians and governments. You can see many other examples of disinformation about George Soros in our database, such as his alleged promotion of protests in the US, Mexico, Catalonia, Romania, Russia, Armenia or Czechia (among many other places), his destabilising manoeuvres all over the world, his sponsorship of the film “Joker” as a tutorial for future ‘colour revolutions’, his attempts to destabilise Europe (mainly through the promotion of massive immigration) or his adoption of the term “conspiracy theory” to discredit those who speak the truth.

Disclaimer

Cases in the EUvsDisinfo database focus on messages in the international information space that are identified as providing a partial, distorted, or false depiction of reality and spread key pro-Kremlin messages. This does not necessarily imply, however, that a given outlet is linked to the Kremlin or editorially pro-Kremlin, or that it has intentionally sought to disinform. EUvsDisinfo publications do not represent an official EU position, as the information and opinions expressed are based on media reporting and analysis of the East Stratcom Task Force.
