DISINFO: Soros Foundation took an active part in Rose, Orange and Velvet revolutions

SUMMARY

George Soros is not one of the greatest philanthropists in the world, but one of the monsters. His organisation sponsoring LGBT people in Armenia should be banned. The Soros Foundation took an active part in the Georgian Rose Revolution. The Soros participated in the Orange Revolution in Ukraine and Velvet Revolution in Armenia. What happened in Minsk these days and the current developments there are quite similar to the events that happened in 2018 in Yerevan. There is no doubt that the Soros Foundation was involved in the events in the capital of Belarus in one way or another, and now the essential role of the foundation is still there.

RESPONSE

Conspiracy theory based on a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about George Soros and the Anti-Soros movement in Armenia. The Open Society Foundation, sponsored by George Soros, is a network of independent groups working in many countries, since 1984, for justice, democratic governance and human rights. In the present day, the Open Society Foundations support projects implemented by NGOs or state institutions in more than 120 countries. The foundation is not active in Belarus. Soros foundation used to operate there between 1993-1997, with branches in Minsk and Vitebsk but stopped operations due to conflicts with the authorities. Pro-Kremlin media often paint popular protests as "colour revolutions" provoked by Soros. This is also present in the case of Georgia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Venezuela, Bulgaria, Armenia, Slovakia and now in Belarus. Soros has been falsely accused of a wide range of sins: destabilising Europe, organising colour revolutions, attacking churches and traditional values as well as sponsoring the film the "Joker" as a tutorial for colour revolutions, organising clashes in Armenia, serving foreign agendas aimed at the collapse of Armenian statehood, provoking Anti-Russian protests in Georgia, being a threat to the national security of Armenia, and being directly involved in the presidential elections and the government crisis in Romania.
