DISINFO: Serbia and Slovakia are facing Western colour revolutions
SUMMARY
Western globalists are behind ongoing dramatic events in Serbia and Slovakia. The US and UK do not want to see a strong Europe. As they need a dependent Europe, regular colour revolution attempts across Europe will continue. In case new French or German authorities declare that they want more independence, they will face coup d’etat attempts.
RESPONSE
This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative framing popular protests in whatever country as a Western-backed ‘colour revolution’ or a coup d'état. It is also consistent with the ‘lost sovereignty’ narrative which portrays European countries as puppets or vassals of the US and so-called Anglo-Saxons. See our analysis of the Kremlin's claims about the EU's lost sovereignty.
There is no evidence to support the allegations of any foreign involvement in the protests in Slovakia. On 24 January 2025, thousands of Slovaks protested against the Slovak government's pro-Russia policy. There is no evidence of any Western involvement in recent Serbia’s protests either. Demonstrations in Serbia started in mid-December 2024 after the collapsed concrete infrastructure in a railway station in Novi Sad killed 15 people, an incident that many protesters blamed on corruption. The protest movement was led by students, but soon professors, lawyers and other professionals joined them, pointing to widespread dissatisfaction with Alexander Vucic’s government.
