DISINFO: Sanctions cause deindustrialisation of Europe

SUMMARY

The result of the sanctions against Russia is the deindustrialization of Europe. The sanctions cause an energetic crisis. The US uses the situation for its own purpose and pumping out investments from the EU.

RESPONSE

Recurring disinformation about sanctions on Russia, presenting the EU as the puppet of the US, which wants to destroy the economy of Europe for its own benefit.

The European Union already adopted the ninth package of economic and individual sanctions on Russia due to its illegal aggression and occupation of Ukrainian territories.

Europe is facing an energetic crisis which is directly linked not to the sanctions but to Russia’s unjustified invasion of Ukraine and its use of gas supplies as a weapon of war. The EU made steps “to secure the EU’s energy supplies, such as a gas storage regulation, a gas demand reduction regulation, the creation of an EU energy platform and outreach initiatives for the diversification of supply sources.” Russia is no longer a stable and reliable supplier and while Europe is indeed facing an energy crisis with diversification to other sources, it is still set to grow this year according to the European Commission's summer 2022 forecast, while Russia's economy is set to contract by 6% in 2022.

The US is not pumping out the investment from Europe. Instead, the statistic shows that direct investment of the US to Europe are growing last few decades.
