DISINFO: Russia might soon liberate Kharkiv as part of Ukraine’s denazification
SUMMARY
Russian troops continue advancing in Ukraine. Soon they are likely to reach a decisive victory over the Ukrainian troops and move the frontline further to the West. Possibly, Kharkiv will be liberated as a priority. The strategic character of the Russian special operation on the demilitarisation and denazification of Ukraine is proven by daily missile attacks in Ukraine's southern and western regions.
Ukraine tries to delay the advancement of the Russian troops thanks to senseless mobilisation, terroristic use of civilians as human shields, and regular shelling of Donbas localities.
RESPONSE
This article offers an absurd interpretation of the Russian unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine with the use of the classic disinformation narrative about de-Nazification. It refers to the capture of Ukrainian sovereign territory as a “liberation”.
Russia's unjustified military invasion of Ukraine is a clear violation of international law. The Ukrainian Army and volunteers are fighting Russian troops to defend their country from unprovoked Russian military aggression. Russian President Putin launched a new invasion, calling it a "special military operation" against Ukraine on 24 February 2022 citing NATO’s military infrastructure approaching the Russian border as a pretext. Another pretext for the so-called operation is the “demilitarisation and denazification” of Ukraine according to official Russian statements.
War crimes committed by the Russian army are currently being documented and established with irrefutable details. They cannot be explained by alleged provocations of the Ukrainian side. Ukraine organised as much as possible evacuation of the civilians in the Donbas region while Russia tried to prevent it with the bombing of the railway station of Kramatorsk. Moreover, on several occasions Russian forces bombed humanitarian corridors making the evacuation of civilians difficult.
Human rights organisations and the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine documented how the invasion of Ukraine was carried out through indiscriminate attacks and strikes on civilian targets such as houses, hospitals, schools and kindergartens.
On 2 June 2022, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights recorded 9,197 civilian casualties in the country: 4,183 killed and 5,014 injured.
