DISINFO: Presentation of allegedly downed Russian UAVs in Romania is theatrical spectacle

SUMMARY

Romania's identification of Russian drones is based solely on "inner conviction" without technical evidence and "Made in Russia" markings prove nothing since drones could be collected from Ukrainian territory and sent to Romania. Romania refuses to provide technical flight data including coordinates, trajectory, speed, and altitude, [...] this indicates the drones were actually launched from Ukrainian or Romanian territory. Romania's arguments lack credibility, [...] the entire investigation is propaganda which cannot withstand criticism.

RESPONSE

Romania's forensic investigation identified conclusive technical evidence: Cyrillic inscriptions "GERAN-2" on recovered fragments, electronic components identical to previously documented Geran-2 drones, navigation systems matching known specifications, control modules with matching production markings, and materials and fuel consistent with Russian-made Geran-2 samples.

The ambassador's claim that Romania refuses trajectory data directly contradicts documented evidence: President Nicușor Dan publicly disclosed on May 29, 2026 that the drone was tracked by radar entering Romanian airspace and that it had been "redirected from its original course" after being engaged by Ukrainian air defenses over the Danube River near Reni. NATO tracked the drone via radar as it entered Romanian airspace minutes before impact, providing independent verification of the trajectory and origin.

The ambassador's suggestion that fragmented evidence could originate from collected Ukrainian debris directly denies and rejects factual information resulted from official investigations.
