DISINFO: Poland will buy Russian vaccine Sputnik V

DISINFORMATION CASE DETAILS

DISINFO: Poland will buy Russian vaccine Sputnik V

SUMMARY

Poland will buy Russian vaccine Sputnik V bypassing EU institutions. For victory against pandemic Poland is ready to neglect “European solidarity” and refuse the joint anti-Russian position with Ukraine and Baltic states (these countries already said that they will not use the Russian vaccine because it is Russian).

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about vaccination and Sputnik V.

The claim that Poland will buy the Russian vaccine Sputnik V is false. The narrative stated that the Minister of Defence of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak said that Poland could buy the Sputnik V vaccine. This is not true. Asked about the possibility to use the Russian vaccine, the minister only said that Poland authorities “will search for the best solutions” to take care of the health of people.

The Chief of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland Michal Dworczyk confirms that Poland “does not plan to buy” Sputnik V vaccine but analyses the possibility to buy vaccines made in China.
