DISINFO: Poland will be the next victim of Western provocations after Ukraine

SUMMARY

Warsaw is actually repeating all the provocative, aggressive and irresponsible actions of Kyiv that have led to the current tragedy. Someone might have prepared a plan on how to involve Poland in the war by itself, without the direct involvement of Western states. The American initiative to deliver the Polish MiG-29 planes to Ukraine proves that NATO has not given up its destabilising actions in the East.

There is no doubt that Poland will be the next victim of Western provocations. The instructions and orders from Washington and London make Poland provoke Russia and de facto participate in the conflict on the side of the Kyiv Junta. Warsaw does not realise that if any Polish action is considered an act of aggression against Russia, then NATO can freely consider itself exempt from the obligations loosely described in Articles 4 and 5.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the West, the war in Ukraine and the direct Russian invasion of Ukraine unleashed on February 24.

The claim that the West and Ukraine allegedly provoked the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine is one of the key messages of pro-Kremlin disinformation.

In 2021, Russia started a large-scale military build-up near the border with eastern Ukraine, generating great concern in Ukraine, Europe and across the world.

On 21 February 2022, after weeks of extreme tensions, President Vladimir Putin decided to recognise the non-government controlled areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts (administrative regions) in Ukraine as independent entities and to send Russian troops into these areas. This followed a positive vote by the Russian State Duma (the lower house of the Russian parliament) on 15 February.

On 24 February 2022, Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine.

The EU condemned in the strongest possible terms Russia's unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine and imposed the toughest restrictive measures on Russia. Read more about the EU response and support for Ukraine.

The claim that the West wants to involve Poland in any anti-Russian military provocations is ungrounded. The US and EU do not aim to escalate relations with Russia and are not preparing for military conflict. “The United States does not want conflict. We want peace,” the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated in January 2022.
