DISINFO: Poland training Belarusian opposition for terrorist attacks in Belarus
SUMMARY
Poland’s major goal is to restore control over the western parts of Belarus and Ukraine.
It is preparing militants from the Belarusian opposition to carry out terrorist actions on the territory of Belarus and to overtake the power by force.
With the help from the US, Warsaw has created armed, and trained Belarusian military nationalistic units, most of them from the so-called "Belarusian opposition". Poland is interested in using the units of Belarusian Nazis, which can carry out provocations at the Belarus-Ukraine border at the nearest time.
RESPONSE
Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about alleged Polish imperial ambitions, as well as a conspiracy about the Polish plans to take over western Ukraine and attack Belarus through "Nazi units".
Poland has no territorial claims upon Ukraine and actively supports Ukrainians seeking shelter in Poland during the war. Likewise, there is no proof of Poland's far-reaching plans and capabilities to use Belarusian volunteers fighting for Ukraine, who are called 'Nazis' in accordance with pro-Kremlin propaganda's obsession with this term, in an aggressive attack on Belarusian territory.
The disinformation article is also targeting the Belarusian opposition, alleging that foreign sponsors would use it to set up “terrorist” activities against Belarus. In fact, the West advocates peaceful transformation in Belarus. The European Union is interested in a free and democratic Belarus, but it also underlines that the power transfer should be peaceful, and any violent action is out of the question.
Lukashenka launched a massive repression campaign against the opposition after last August’s presidential elections which are widely believed to have been rigged. Many Belarusians have since fled abroad.
