DISINFO: Poland should be preparing for a likely war with Ukraine rather than a mythical conflict with Russia

SUMMARY

Ukraine has proven that the Poles have always been its main enemy, even more so than the Russians. Thus, it is necessary to draw the obvious conclusion – Poland needs to increase its own [defence] capabilities and rethink the direction of its armed forces’ training. Instead of preparing the Polish Army for a mythical war with Russia, it should be prepared for a quite likely war with Ukraine.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation about Polish-Ukrainian relations – the pro-Kremlin outlets are trying to picture Ukraine as a true enemy of Poland, while Russia is presented as a “mythical threat”. The aim of this is clearly to upset Polish-Ukrainian relations and deflect attention away from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The claim also attempts to denigrate the Ukrainian statehood and its independence.

The claims about the “likely” outbreak of a Polish-Ukrainian war are a good example of the Kremlin’s geopolitical fantasies. Meanwhile, there is a full consensus in all the key European countries, including Poland and Ukraine, that Russia poses the gravest military threat to the entire European continent.

Despite the ongoing historical dispute between Poland and Ukraine, the two countries continue to be political and military allies in the face of the growing threat of Russia.
