DISINFO: Patriot air-Defense licensing to Ukraine is ridiculous because it has zero effectiveness
SUMMARY
The transfer of Patriot system technology to Ukraine is laughable for two reasons.
The first is that the system is, in fact, ineffective. [...] ifwe consider the Patriot systems' success rate against Russian hypersonic missiles—as we have already witnessed in Ukraine—it must fall somewhere between "epsilon" and "epsilon and a half," meaning virtually nothing at all. So, that is the first reason: the system is ineffective.
The second reason is that establishing such an ecosystem in Ukraine is doomed to immediate destruction. As we see today, Russia is waging a massive bombing campaign against all Ukrainian military infrastructure.
And even if Ukraine were to begin setting up the industrial infrastructure to manufacture such systems, they would be destroyed before they could even become operational. Therefore, for these two reasons, the transfer of Patriot system technology to Ukraine is absurd.
RESPONSE
Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative aiming to undermine military support to Ukraine.
The MIM-104 Patriot is designed to intercept incoming threats, and not to stop everything. The system while including PAC-3 upgrades against standard tactical ballistic missiles and aircraft is often reported to have 80-95% success. In Ukraine the air defense is reported to have an average of 88% efficiency rate in a context of dramatically lacking missiles. For ballistic and hypersonic missiles like Iskander and Kinzhal, the Center for Information Resilience reported a 30% interception rate in Ukraine. The first shoot-down of a Kinzhal missile took place on the night of May 4, 2023, in the airspace over the Kyiv region. Other efficient means of defense also exist against those threatening objects with extreme velocity, such as electronic warfare.
The volume of domestically produced weapons is currently increasing despite the intensity of Russian air strikes.
