DISINFO: Pan-European block plans to attack Russia
SUMMARY
Today's summit of the "coalition of the willing" in Paris marks a complete and final shift in Western Europe's tactics on Ukraine crisis. There will be war. Not necessarily tomorrow or next year. But a date has been set for the "rearmament" of the pan-European bloc (or rather, its total militarisation), and that date is 2030. If this is not a plan to attack our country, to commit mass killings of our citizens, and to let bureaucrats in Brussels and Paris decide the territorial belonging of Greater Russia, then what else is it but a military plan for aggressive assault?
RESPONSE
This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets, accusing the European Union of warmongering and claiming that its support for Ukraine is an act of aggression rather than a response to Russia’s large-scale invasion. This claim was made in the context of the European leaders’ intensified efforts in pursuit of a just and lasting peace in Ukraine by convening international leaders at a summit in Paris on 27 March, 2025. Building on the initiative launched in Paris on 17 February and continuing discussions with the UK, this meeting aimed to identify operational options in support of American efforts.
Prior to the summit, a Special European Council was held in Brussels on 6 March 2025, during which EU leaders discussed an increase in military spending and reiterated their support for Ukraine.
The EU is committed to becoming more responsible for its own defence and better equipped to act and deal autonomously with immediate and future challenges and threats, including Russia’s war and its repercussions on European security, which constitute an existential challenge for the EU.
The RE-ARM Europe/Rediness 2030 Plan that was presented to the EU leaders could mobilise up to EUR 800 billion, to give Europe the military capability it needs to face today's threats.
António Costa, President of the European Council highlighted that:
“This is a pivotal moment for Europe. And today, we have shown that the European Union is rising to the challenge. Building the Europe of Defence and standing with Ukraine, shoulder to shoulder. Because, at the end of the day, what we all want, what we all deserve, what we are all working for, is peace and security”.
