DISINFO: NATO's is fighting a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine
SUMMARY
With support for NATO's proxy war against Russia in Ukraine showing signs of collapse, the hysterical anti-Russian rhetoric gathers pace until the countdown to all-out war is heralded. The year 2024, which has only just begun, is already being forced to deal with irresponsible predictions of an imminent clash between NATO and Russia, which would mean nothing less than the outbreak of World War III.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative blaming NATO for the war in Ukraine, aiming to deflect Russia’s responsibility for its aggression against this country. This claim was made in the context of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The Russian Federation invaded Ukraine on 22 February 2022 (before Russia had illegally annexed the Crimean peninsula and started an armed conflict in Donbas in 2014). It was this invasion what led other nations to provide massive support for Ukraine’s self-defence.
The US, the EU and NATO condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is entirely unjustified and unprovoked. Not only Western but also many other nations around the world support Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter article 51, to stop Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
The EU, the US and NATO condemns in the strongest possible terms Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is entirely unjustified and unprovoked. NATO as an organisation is not involved in fighting in Ukraine.
See other examples of similar disinformation narratives, such as claims that Ukraine is a broken toy for the West and it is ruining its finances, that the EU is in decline after following Anglo-Saxon orders against Russia, that at the behest of the US, Germany is preparing to attack Russia, or that the West is fighting Russia with the help of the Kyiv regime.
