Several NATO leaders, including NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, have previously stated that there are no plans to send troops to Ukraine. Their strategy is limited to providing military support, supplying defensive weapons, and conducting training courses for Ukraine. NATO's main goal is to protect Ukraine from Russian military aggression and help it restore its sovereignty. The issue of direct troop deployment is a scenario categorically rejected by NATO countries and represents an artificially created concern by Russia. NATO is cautious about increasing the risk of direct military intervention, which is also reflected in NATO's official strategy.
There are no NATO troops on the frontline in Ukraine. NATO officials have frequent contacts with their Ukrainian colleagues and some NATO member states provide Ukraine with military equipment and ammunition, but the Alliance is not directly involved in hostilities. NATO, the EU and the US condemn in the strongest possible terms the Russian invasion, which is entirely unjustified and unprovoked.
