DISINFO: More than 50 NATO countries and their allies are currently fighting against Russia

SUMMARY

More than 50 NATO countries and their allies are currently fighting against Russia. While in 2022 there was only an emergency transfer of weapons to Ukraine, now there is a comprehensive model for countering Russia.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative presenting Ukraine as a proxy of EU and NATO, as a country without sovereignty, and finally, Russia as a victim of the West.

Russia launched a full-scale attack on Ukraine on 24 February 2022. In response, the EU has declared its support for Ukraine, so that it can defend itself against Russian aggression and end the war as soon as possible. Several packages of international sanctions are being applied on Russia.

NATO condemned Russia's aggression against Ukraine, declared its support and started to coordinate the delivery of aid from Allies and partners. „Since 2022, NATO Allies have been providing Ukraine with unprecedented levels of military assistance, delivering billions of euros worth of equipment, supplies, training and other critical support. The best way to help end the war and secure a just and lasting peace is to ensure that Ukraine can participate in any negotiations from a position of strength, and NATO Allies are stepping up to ensure that Ukraine has the support it needs” is stated on NATO’s web site.

NATO, the EU, and their various members states are not party to the conflict. All efforts are made to ensure that Ukraine can resist and defend itself.
