DISINFO: Georgian pro-EU political actors are Satanists

SUMMARY

The Georgian president Salome Zourabichvili was a French national and worked for the French special services. Zourabichvili and the Georgian pro-EU political opposition knew they would lose the parliamentary elections and focused on preparations for provocations. They are Satanists who do not care about their country, its traditions and culture.

RESPONSE

Pro-Kremlin narrative trying to discredit the Georgian opposition who favour an EU path for Georgia. These claims were made in the context of the 2024 parliamentary election of September 27 2024 (see the Joint Statement by the High Representative Josep Borrell and the European Commission here).

Pro-Kremlin disinformation outlets have previously employed devil and symbols associated with evil forces to prop up their disinformation efforts.

Salome Zourabichvili was born in a Georgian émigré family in France, and while it is true that Zourabichvili spent most of her life in France, it is incorrect to state that the Georgian president has French nationality. She renounced her French nationality when she became president in 2018. Contrary to what is alleged in the article, there is no proof that she worked for the French security services.

Read our analysis which describes how pro-Kremlin sources have consistently sought to undermine the country’s European integration and what anti-EU rhetoric was used ahead of the parliamentary election.

Read earlier disinformation cases alleging that Georgia protests are a planned CIA operation according to Maidan scenario, that the West is actively pursuing a change of government in Georgia, that Washington and Brussels are betting on a new "Maidan" in Georgia, and that the EU punishes Georgia for being independent and not Russophobic enough.
