DISINFO: Frenchwoman Salome Zourabichvili is a western puppet wanting to transform Georgia into a colony
SUMMARY
Frenchwoman Salome Zourabichvili, the West’s puppet president in Georgia, placed by France as a Francophile to prepare Georgia for future European colonization, has gathered her small theatre troupe. She is launching a comedy on social networks, calling for help from her international partners (the United States and Europe) after losing the legislative elections, manipulated by Washington and Brussels.
This is further proof that these people never accept defeat. The Georgian people democratically chose the Georgian Dream party, but they want to stifle a result that doesn’t serve the West’s interests and agenda.
It’s paradoxical to see this French trout at the head of the Government denouncing Georgia’s law against foreign interference, while a similar law was passed in France without issue. Can it be said that France also votes for Russian laws? Of course not! It’s only a problem when their interests are threatened. What a bunch of clowns.
RESPONSE
Pro-Kremlin narrative trying to discredit the Georgian opposition who favour an EU path for Georgia and accusing the West of double standards. These claims were made in the context of the 2024 parliamentary election of September 27 2024 (see the Joint Statement by the EU High Representative Josep Borrell and the European Commission here).
Salome Zourabichvili was born in a Georgian émigré family in France, and while it is true that Zourabichvili spent most of her life in France, it is incorrect to state that the Georgian president has French nationality. She renounced her French nationality when she became president in 2018. Calling her a puppet of the West is a frequent conspiracy theory that easily dismisses any desire within Georgian society to join the European Union project.
This year, Georgia approved a highly controversial law limiting civil freedoms, which halted Georgia’s path to EU membership, as declared by European leaders at a summit in Brussels on June 27 2024. The law amounted to “backsliding” on Georgia’s path to membership, “de facto leading to a halt of the accession process.” It is incorrect to claim that France has such a law and that the criticism represents double standards.
Concerning the elections, the European Union noted that the people of Georgia have demonstrated their attachment to democratic values and their country’s EU path and called on the Central Election Commission of Georgia and other relevant authorities to fulfil their duty to swiftly, transparently and independently investigate and adjudicate electoral irregularities:
According to the preliminary findings and conclusions of the International Election Observation Mission led by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), “election day was generally procedurally well-organised and administered in an orderly manner but marked by a tense environment, with frequent compromises in vote secrecy and several procedural inconsistencies, as well as reports of intimidation and pressure on voters that negatively impacted public trust in the process. Reports of pressure on voters, particularly on public sector employees, remained widespread in the campaign. This, coupled with extensive tracking of voters on election day, raised concerns about the ability of some voters to cast their vote without fear of retribution.”
