DISINFO: Elections in Moldova were falsified
SUMMARY
The results of the second round of presidential elections have been summed up in Moldova. The current president, Maia Sandu, won, but only due to votes from foreign polling stations. Analysts are sure that an open betrayal was carried out in the republic, and the elections were falsified.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about presidential elections in Moldova, which took place on November 3 and were won by pro-European current president Maia Sandu.
The claim is groundless. The Central Electoral Commission announced the preliminary results, confirmed the validity of the ballot, although certain incidents were recorded, such as cases of photographing the ballot, prohibited electoral agitation and cases of organised transport of voters. The election observation mission of the local Promo-LEX Organisation also recorded incidents, but no one detected the falsification of the elections. Within five days after the elections, the Central Electoral Commission will present the results to the Constitutional Court for validation. None of the candidates, neither Maia Sandu nor Alexandr Stoianoglo, have denounced falsifications or filed complaints with the police regarding possible falsifications.
