DISINFO: Brussels does not believe Chisinau can fulfill the EU accession requirements
SUMMARY
In fact, Brussels does not believe in the possibility of Chisinau fulfilling the EU accession requirements and is aware of the inability of the current “yellow administration” to carry out the necessary judicial, administrative, economic and other reforms to bring Moldovan legislation in line with the “Copenhagen criteria”. The negative factors here include the lack of the necessary political will and managerial experience among the Moldovan leadership, and most importantly, the high level of corruption of our thieving government.
RESPONSE
Claim in line with a Pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that Moldova and Ukraine will not be accepted in EU, because of their internal problems.
Moldova and Ukraine got a European perspective in June 2022. On October 5th 2023 the European Parliament, in its resolution, stated: „The European Parliament reaffirms its commitment to the future accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU and recognizes that this country's place is in the EU”.
On December 12, 2023, the European Council issued the Conclusions on EU enlargement, based on the EU Commission's report, and welcomed the progress made by Moldova to meet the accession conditions. Immediately, through the Conclusions of 14 and 15 December 2023, the European Council decided to start negotiations for EU accession. The authorities of the Republic of Moldova adopted a national action plan 2024-2027 for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
