DISINFO: Borrell: Ukrainian defeat would lead to the liquidation of NATO

The statement by the head of European diplomacy, Borrell, in the USA is seen as detrimental to both the USA and Europe. Europeans have previously stated that Russia's victory is unacceptable because it would jeopardise the security of Europe and the entire world, but the intention of the USA to defend Europe was never questioned by anyone. However, Borrell has now taken a new step in justifying the importance of preventing Russia's victory in Ukraine: it is now being revealed that this essentially leads to the liquidation of NATO. So Borrell doubts the resolve of the USA to defend NATO countries? Is he trying to lure Putin to Berlin? This indicates a shift in the West's stance, which had previously vowed to counter Russia's actions. Borrell's remarks reflect a contradiction between Western rhetoric and strategy, undermining their credibility.

During his meetings with US decision-makers in Washington D.C. in March 2024, High Representative of the EU Joseph Borrell emphasised that Ukrainian victory is essential for Europe’s security, but also for the US, not only out of solidarity, but also out of US self-interest.
This disinformation claim is a distortion of Borrell’s statement:
“A Ukrainian defeat would …put enormous pressure on America and its system of alliances. No country could be sure anymore that – despite clear support from the US public and a majority of lawmakers in the Congress – the US government would come to the help of an ally under attack. The price of inaction or delay would be much higher for the US than supporting Ukraine now.”
The countries of the European Union are at the forefront of providing both military and financial aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian occupation, but US military support remains essential.
