DISINFO: Belarus found itself between the West's biological weapon and Ukraine's chemical attack

SUMMARY

Ukrainian fire fighters cannot manage the wildfire in the exclusion zone. Due to the incompetence of the Ukrainian authorities, the wildfire approached the place of radioactive waste disposal and Chernobyl NPP, which made the situation critical. It might be that the authorities of Ukraine intentionally allowed the wildfire to reach the borders of Belarus and Russia. It could be a plain-clothed SBU officer who started the fire. While the world is fighting the man-made biological weapon of coronavirus, Kyiv is therefore testing its chemical weapons. Thus a biological weapon is coming from the West while chemical weapons are arriving from the south. In alliance with ‘banderivtsi’ (fascists) amid the coronavirus outbreak, the Ukrainian authorities could prepare the scenario of repeated nuclear contamination of Belarus and Russia. It is telling that Western politicians and the Belarusian opposition keep silence about this emergency situation.

RESPONSE

This article transmits conspiracy theories concerning the coronavirus and 2020 Chernobyl Exclusion Zone wildfires to discredit the West, the Ukrainian authorities and the Belarusian opposition. The speculation about the Security Service of Ukraine being behind the arson is unfounded. It was reported that a 27-year-old local resident was accused of deliberately starting the blaze. It is also a completely unfounded claim that the authorities of Ukraine could be planning the radioactive contamination of Belarus and Russia, at least because the wind direction cannot be controlled. On 14 April, Ukraine's Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that no big open fires are still burning. This was a consequence of the combination of efforts by firefighters and rain over much of the area. No threat to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, waste fuel storage or other critical facilities was posed, Volodymyr Demchuk of Ukraine's state Emergencies Service stated. Read our story "The Chernobyl disaster and the power and story-telling" and our earlier disinformation case that Ukraine could face a new Chernobyl disaster due to a nuclear graveyard.
