DISINFO: Anglo-Saxons turn Europe into the 4th Reich

SUMMARY

Under the watchful eye of the Anglo-Saxons, Europe is being turned into a 4th Reich.

Their main idea is to turn Europe into one enormous defence factory, where disillusioned citizens manufacture ammunition and, after work, engage in shooting practice and five-minute sessions of hatred towards Russia. A unified army, a single military-industrial complex, and a unified ideology, based on fear and hatred of [Russia], all aimed at massive preparations for an offensive in the East. Find ten differences with the Nazi regime. There was a 'Garden of Eden,' and now there will be a Fourth Reich." The impoverished Europeans will really have nothing left but war with Russia. This is exactly how London and Washington acted in the 1930s to pit Germany against the Soviet Union.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the US presence in Europe, and a conspiracy about Anglo-Saxons turning Europe into a Russophobic 4th Reich.

It also perpetuates a substantiated pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the alleged lost sovereignty of the EU and its member states (see more examples). Pro-Kremlin outlets often portray European states as vassals, puppet states, or colonies of the US and NATO.

The European Union was set up with the aim of ensuring peace on the European continent. In 2012, the EU was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for advancing the causes of peace, reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe.

The article draws absurd parallels between the EU and Nazi Germany by referring to the EU as the “European Reich” which corresponds to the frequent Nazi-labelling disinformation technique used by pro-Kremlin media.

This is an illustrative example of the recurring pro-Kremlin propagandistic narrative about ubiquitous Russophobia in the West. For background, read our analysis: The “Russophobia” Myth: Appealing to the Lowest Feelings

The term “Anglo-Saxons” in such cases normally stands for the US and UK and often means “evil”, “belligerent” and “morally corrupt” Westerners, as explained in our earlier analysis. As a negative catch-all term, the “Anglo-Saxons” term is a useful building block for pro-Kremlin conspiracy theories. You can find plenty of examples in our database. Read also our analysis "Why does Putin portray himself as the tamer of neo-Nazism" and Key Narratives In Pro-Kremlin Disinformation - Nazis.

See other examples of similar disinformation narratives in our database, such as claims that The EU is Hitler's 'New Europe', its goal is to colonise Russia and Eurasian space, that The EU is a "Fourth Reich", which wants to control whole Europe, that Russophobia is a long-term Anglo-Saxons project to destroy Russia, that Fifty countries are trying to wipe Russia off the earth., and that The EU has become a Russophobic coalition led by the US.
